On July 18, 2017, the federal government released a discussion paper outlining proposed significant tax changes that will impact tax planning for private corporations and their shareholders. In their presentation, Ian Hendry and Jennifer Dawe of Hendry Warren LLP will discuss the highlights of the discussion paper and its related implications.
Ian Hendry, CPA, CA, CFP, TEP
Ian Hendry is a founding partner of Hendry Warren LLP, a full service, Ottawa based public accounting firm providing, assurance, tax, finance, management consulting and financial planning. Ian’s areas of expertise include corporate and personal tax planning, financial and estate planning and wealth management. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant as well as a Certified Financial Planner and a member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners. He prides himself on effectively communicating financial concepts to his clients. Ian believes that when you have a better understanding of your financial results and issues, you make better decisions.
Ian is an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa and works closely with the Lisgar Collegiate Institute Key Club to mentor and advise students, as well as being chair of the Legacy Fund Committee. He is past chair of the Board of Directors of Roger's House and the CHEO Foundation and currently sits as an active board member of Roger's House.
Jennifer Dawe, CPA, CA
Jennifer is a Senior Tax Manager at Hendry Warren LLP and has a wide range of experience with corporate, personal, trust and estate tax. She is an income tax specialist who works with entrepreneurs and business owners to help them maximize their business and financial successes with strategic tax planning. Jennifer is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and has successfully completed CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Course.
Jennifer is a member of the firm’s Professional Development Committee, which focuses on ensuring that professionals at the firm are provided the tools and training to deliver exceptional service to firm clients and to progress in their careers. Jennifer is a graduate of Carleton University having received highest honors. Jennifer is also a proud east coaster, originally hailing from Newfoundland and Labrador.
